History of Donovans

Donovan's Reef, first purchased by Chip and Sandy Stewart on July 13, 1993, is a local bar in the town of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Thomas Tyrell was the previous owner before them and got the name for the bar from the 1963 film “Donovan's Reef.”

It is just a bar for many people traveling through Twin Lakes, but too many it is a special place that holds a lot of memories. Donovan’s Reef was and still is today a fun place to grab a drink and have a good time. It has more than earned its reputation as a favorable spot to many over the years by hosting exciting events, having live music, and having cool decor to match the kind of vibe they have. Over the years, Donovan's have hosted lots of events such as Halloween, and Christmas parties. They have hosted trivia nights, live music nights, birthday parties, and even a sumo wrestling night. All these different parties and events have led to more and more customers coming in and to their reputation as a bar being so great.

After the passing of Chip and Sandy Stewart, Jeff Stewart was the sole owner of Donovan's Reef. Jeff Stewart owned Donovan's Reef up until July 20th, 2006. Nowadays Donovan's is a lot different, but still an exciting place to stop by and get a drink. It is full of old memories for many, but still continues to make new ones today.
